Wilburton is nestled in the Fourche Maline Valley between the San Bois Mountains and Limestone Ridge, just five miles south of Robbers Cave State Park. Make your first stop at the naturally landscaped Chamber of Commerce office at 302 W. Main Street or the Wilburton Main Street office, 108 W. Main Street inside The Gallery, where information on local events is always available. Wilburton is a destination worth the drive, whether your interest is in shopping in our newly renovated and landscaped historical shopping district or finding fun and safe activities for the kids. Wilburton and the surrounding area offer everything from great scenic drives to hiking, festivals to art show, museums to wildflowers, bird watching to golf.
Founded as a mining and railroad community in the late 1800’s, incorporated as a town in 1902, Wilburton has a rich and diverse history that can be explored today with the help of our Latimer County Historical Society, located in the Latimer County Public Library. There are also geological digs in the area, which regularly attract students and teachers from Universities across the state.
Robbers Cave State Park and Wilburton go hand in hand, and never more so than on the third weekend in October each year when the park is the site for the Robbers Cave F all Festival. Our Fall Festival, one of the largest in the state, features three days of crafts, foods, musical entertainment, amusements, and on Saturday, one of Oklahoma’s finest car shows. Robbers Cave State Park is a great place for family fun, from hiking to rock climbing, swimming, picnicking, camping and much more. Cabins, campsites, RV hookup sites and a lodge are available in Robbers Cave State Park.
