Choctaw County Oklahoma is part of the Choctaw Chickasaw Heritage Corridor, which was part of the 1830's trail of tears. 3 of it's towns are a treasure chest full of history, Near the town of Swink sit a home dating to the 1830 known as "The Old Choctaw Chief's House", The Fort Towson/Doaksville Historic Site and Museum boasts amost historic event with the surrender ( of the last Confederate general, Stand Watie, and Choctaw County's "capital"
named after the famous French author, Victor Hugo, is the site of the Frisco Depot Museum and Harvey House Restaurant. Hugo also has been known among fans of the Big Top as Circus City, U.S.A. It is the winter home of five circuses. Hugo's Mt. Olivet Cemetery is hometo Showmen's Rest, the final resting place for "all the showmen under God's bigtop". A short distance away
stands monuments to three World Champion cowboys' Todd Whatley,Freckles Brown and Lane Frost, of "8 Second's" movie fame. Hugo also is
home to Ernie Taylor, a World Champion Rodeo Calf Roper. A short distance southwest of Hugo is the famous Goodland Indian Orphanage, which housed many of Oklahoma's finest citizens through the last century.
